Question: What is the connection of separation of powers (check and balances) to the watergate scandal?

I am writing an essay about this. and i have to point out the significance to the watergate scandal and the separation of powers. so if you could give me some pointers, facts, or anything else that would be great. thank you.

As far as I know, not much. Watergate was a scandal involving individuals breaking into the watergate hotel and stealing important documents. I guess you could put a spin on it and say the resulting near impeachment of nixon had to do with the seperation of powers. You may also want to talk about how the executive branch interacts with other previous executive branches since Kennedy pardoned Nixon. That in itself was a sense of Kennedy (executive) interfering with the investigations and impeachment of the judicial and legislative branches. That's as far as I can see it going. Hope that helped. Good luck.
